Alumni Association Hosts Inaugural Trivia Night to Support Student Scholarships

Published on 22 March 2019

The St. Louis College of Pharmacy Alumni Association hosted its first Trivia Night on Feb. 2 in the College’s Recreation and Student Center. The event, which replaced the Alumni Golf Classic as the association's annual fundraiser, raised more than $9,900 for student scholarships.

“We felt it was time for a refresh,” explained Stephanie Mauzy, director of alumni relations at the College. “Our office and the Alumni Association board of directors decided to transition from the Golf Classic by hosting a fundraising initiative that could increase alumni engagement and simultaneously engage other groups such as faculty, parents and the surrounding community.”

Over 320 alumni, students, faculty, community members and friends of the College participated in ten rounds of general trivia, which was hosted by STL Trivia Guy.

A cash prize of $200 was presented to the winning team, which was comprised of alumnae Kristi Stice, B.S. ’04, Pharm.D. ’05, Michelle Heidel, Pharm.D. ’08, Christina Schulze, Pharm.D. ’07 and Ellen Voelker, B.S. ’04, Pharm.D. ’05. Other contests, including a 50/50 raffle, were held throughout the evening. The event also included a silent auction featuring items donated by alumni, corporations and friends of the College.

“We were all very pleased with the turnout at our inaugural event,” stated Mauzy. “We quadrupled the participation we had in our most recent golf tournament and raised more than $9,900 to fund scholarships for our students. The feedback on this event has been very positive, and alumni seem interested in attending a trivia night again.”
