Vice President, Advancement and Chief Development Officer

General Description :
St. Louis College of Pharmacy is currently seeking qualified candidates for vice president, advancement/chief development officer. This member of the president’s cabinet is responsible for developing and executing strategy around all fundraising and alumni relations efforts to support strategic initiatives and further the mission of St. Louis College of Pharmacy. The vice president is responsible for developing and implementing all fund-raising strategies for capital, annual, and planned giving; providing overall guidance and direction to the College's alumni relations programs; providing leadership and supervision to the advancement team.
- Supervise and lead all aspects of the development program, including planned giving, special campaigns, prospect research, corporate and foundation donor programs, major donor clubs, special events, stewardship and donor relations to support capital needs, annual operations, student scholarship and research initiatives. Develops overall strategy, works with president to establish goals to meet institutional objectives. Supervises staff to develop and execute tactics to meet objectives.
- Supervise alumni relations strategies to actively engage alumni to support the institution. Serve as liaison between Alumni Association and President.
- Diversify and strengthen the institution's donor base/pipeline; and work intensively to build a culture of philanthropy in the community.
- Manage portfolio of major and principal gift prospects. Identify, cultivate and solicit gifts from major donors including foundations, corporations, and other private funding sources. Embrace opportunities for collaboration in order to identify and cultivate new transformational donors.
- Serve as liaison with the committees of the Board of Trustees as assigned by the President.
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
- Eight to ten years of experience in advancement with at least three years in a senior development and fundraising position preferably at an institution of higher education.
- Demonstrated senior leadership experience with strategic and budget planning in a complex organization; and the ability to define a vision, set goals; and strengthen the institution's culture of philanthropy.
- Demonstrated success in organizing and managing professional staff.
- Excellent oral and written skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain and foster productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to raise and secure funds from a variety of sources.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate, attract, and close major gift funding support for a university or large non-profit organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and successful experience in planned giving, donor cultivation, and solicitation.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize data into effective strategies - ability to plan, organize, and evaluate programs and activities and make recommendations for improvement.
- Experience in budget preparation, fiscal management and personnel supervision.
- Comprehensive understanding of the use of management information systems in fund-raising.
- Ability to work with trustees, volunteers, and college administrators.
- Capability to build a team; ability to motivate.
- Ease in meeting and conversing with a wide range of people in varying social and business situations.

- Position requires frequent travel via and air, and some evening and weekend work.
