About the Program

Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College is a renowned school of nursing in the St. Louis region offering a nursing program with two options for obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) as well as advanced degree programs.

Students at the College will complete one of two options for the BSN:

  • Upper Division Option
  • Accelerated Option

Upper Division Option

Through the Upper Division Option, students will complete their first two years of prerequisites at the College and then transition to Goldfarb. After two years of upper division courses at Goldfarb, students will receive their BSN.

To enter the Upper Division Option, students must meet certain requirements: 

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on core prerequisites

Students must complete a minimum of 54 credit hours in the following prerequisites: 

  • Anatomy and Physiology I with lab
  • English Composition II
  • Anatomy and Physiology II with lab
  • College Algebra
  • Microbiology with lab
  • Introduction to Sociology
  • Nutrition
  • Ethics
  • General Psychology
  • History or Political Science
  • Human Growth and Development
  • Biology, Chemistry, Genetics or Physics
  • Statistics
  • General elective
  • English Composition I
  • Humanities elective
  • Social science elective

Accelerated Option

Through the Accelerated Option, students will complete their bachelor’s degree at the College before transitioning to Goldfarb to complete a full-time, 12-month program to earn their BSN.

To enter the Accelerated Option, students must meet certain requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a field other than nursing
  • Minimum 3.2 cumulative undergraduate GPA
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on core prerequisites

Students must complete a minimum of 54 credit hours in the following prerequisites: 

  • Anatomy and Physiology I with lab
  • Anatomy and Physiology II with lab
  • Microbiology with lab
  • Nutrition
  • General Psychology
  • Human Growth and Development
  • Statistics
  • English Composition

Clinical Experiences

While at Goldfarb, students will complete clinical experiences on the Washington University Medical Campus, in BJC HealthCare facilities and various other community locations throughout St. Louis, St. Louis County and St. Charles County.
