International APPE Rotations

International advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPEs) are non-patient care electives. Through international APPE rotations, you can practice at a variety of sites and gain a range of experiences focusing on global health.

  • Some allow student pharmacists to work in a clinic or hospital pharmacy and attend rounds with physicians and nurses. Through these rotations, students gain clinical experience with patients who are receiving treatment for HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, tropical infections and other diseases.
  • Other sites provide opportunities to participate in teaching or in-service programs for pharmacy students, pharmacy technician students or other midlevel practitioners involved with the distribution of medication and patient care.
  • Additionally, there are rotations with a focus on research.

While on rotation, students are immersed in the local culture and have free time on weekends to explore.
