Safety Services

The Office of Public Safety offers a variety of services to students, faculty, staff and guests to ensure their ability to live, work and learn safely at the College. Below is a brief description of and information about how to use each service provided.

Health and Safety Escorts

Public Safety offers a free 24-hour health and safety escort service to members of the campus community. Escorts are provided to, from or within the campus only. Escorts may be requested for travel to or from an individual’s residence, vehicle or other mode of transportation within a three-mile radius.

Contact Security Services at 314-446-SAFE (7233) to request an escort.

Vehicle Lockouts

The office is equipped with a vehicle unlocking kit that can be used to unlock vehicle doors.

Lockout service can be requested by contacting the public safety base station in the Children's Place Garage and providing the vehicle location, make, model and color. An officer will respond and attempt to unlock the vehicle.

An individual requesting lockout service will be required to:

  • Provide photo identification
  • Verify ownership of the vehicle
  • Sign a release of liability form

Lockout service is provided at no cost.

Vehicle Jump Starts

Drivers in need of jump starts should contact the public safety base station and provide the vehicle location, make, model and color to request a jump start. Lifting the hood will also help the officer locate the vehicle.

An individual requesting a jump start will be required to:

  • Provide photo identification
  • Verify ownership of the vehicle
  • Sign a form authorizing the jump start

Jump starts are provided at no cost.

Lost and Found

The public safety base in the Children's Place Garage serves as the campus designated lost and found area. When property is found unattended, members of the campus community are encouraged to bring items to the base station.

Emails should not be sent out to the entire campus in regard to lost or found items. Students, faculty, and staff who have lost an item should be directed to the Office of Public Safety, either in person or by calling 314.446.8381.
