What We Do

Statement

Diversity acknowledges and promotes the respect, acceptance, understanding, and equal treatment of all the ways in which people differ including age, race, gender, ethnicity, mental and physical abilities, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies.  STLCOP promotes a safe learning environment that encourages community members to explore, embrace, and celebrate the rich dimensions of diversity that each individual represents.

 

Vision

Our vision is to be a model of inclusion that affirms identity and challenges campus community members to go beyond tolerance and actively engage and embrace differences to grow intellectually, personally, socially, and professionally to serve ever-changing patient populations and contribute to our heterogeneous society.

 

Mission

The Office of Inclusion & Diversity (OID) provides the resources, expertise and experiences, and assessment to the members of the campus community that enable its members to achieve the STLCOP vision of diversity. It does this by:

  • Building an inclusive, equitable, culturally competent campus community
  • Promoting diversity and multiculturalism
  • Providing programs that assist in advocacy, recruitment, retention, outreach, mentoring, and advising
