Dr. Steven PlayerDr. Steven Player
Director, Center for Diversity and Cultural Competency, Barnes Jewish Hospital
Dr. Steven Player is the Director of the Center for Diversity and Cultural Competency (CDCC) at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJH) in St. Louis. In this role, Dr. Player leads a dynamic, multidisciplinary team that provides and facilitates cultural competence and inclusion education, quality assessment/improvement, extensive language services, and promoting overall health service equity. In addition to his core responsibilities as Director of the CDCC at BJH, Dr. Player is both the co-founder and co-director of the Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Express Scripts, and St. Louis College of Pharmacy (BESt) Pharmacy Summer Institute.
Dr. Player possess a passion for developing the next generation of health care providers. This passion has led him to establishing not only the BESt program but also the Xavier Initiative, a key strategic partnership between Xavier University of Louisiana College of Pharmacy and BJH, and in serving as coordinator for the BJC HealthCare Pharmacy Internship Program.
Dr. Player also supports the community in various ways, some of which include serving on the Girls, Inc. St. Louis Board of Directors, serving on the Xavier University of Louisiana College of Pharmacy Dean’s Advisory Board, member of the National Association of Health Services Executives, coaching the Ladue 8th grade boy’s basketball team, and participating in career planning sessions for local high school students.
Dr. Player's academic achievements include a Doctorate of Pharmacy (Xavier University), a Masters in Business Administration (Webster University), and a Certificate in Diversity Management (Georgetown University and the Institute for Diversity and Health Management). Dr. Player is native of St. Louis, and is married with two beautiful children.

Dr. Celeste PlayerDr. Celeste Player
Vice President, Strategy and Transformation, Express Scripts, Inc.
As vice president of strategy and transformation, Dr. Player is responsible for building and executing a strategic plan to transform and grow Express Scripts home delivery pharmacies. Dr. Player and her team are dedicated to delivering a best-in-class member experience to home delivery patients through the provision of cost-effective, innovative solutions and service excellence. This focus enables end-to-end operational solutions that will drive profitable growth, deliver industry-leading net promoter scores, and empower and engage employees.
Dr. Player has proven skills as a company-wide collaborator and influencer. In her 10 years with Express Scripts, Dr. Player has held leadership positions in Sales & Account Management and Operations where she led Express Scripts Mail Order Growth team as well as the Express Scripts Pharmacy Practice team. She is a true advocate for patients, physicians and clients.
Dr. Player is also a committed contributor to the St. Louis community. She has served on the board of the St. Louis Maternal, Child and Family Health Coalition (MCFHC) and is currently serving on the board of the National Council for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (NCADA). Dr. Player is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., United Way Charmaine Chapman Leadership Society, Express Scripts Diversity Advisory Board, Missouri Pharmacy Association, and serves as Vice President of Express Scripts WE LEAD Employee Resource Group. She is also a graduate of the St. Louis Business Diversity Initiative Fellows Program. In recognition of her commitment and service, Dr. Player was honored by the St. Louis Business Journal as a 2011 Diverse Business Leader. She has been featured many times on KSDK-TV Show Me St. Louis, educating patients on how to achieve healthier outcomes. Dr. Player received a Doctor of Pharmacy from Xavier University College of Pharmacy in New Orleans, Louisiana. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, she is the wife of Dr. Steven Player and the proud mother of their son, Mason and daughter, Kourtney.

Dr. Isaac ButlerDr. Isaac Butler
Interim Vice President, Diversity & Inclusion, St. Louis College of Pharmacy
Dr. Isaac Butler is the Interim Vice President for Diversity, Inclusion and Community Liaison with the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. In addition Dr. Butler has a leadership consulting company to help professionals and students thrive in their careers and personal lives. Prior to starting this company Dr. Butler spent most of his career at Express Scripts leading teams in sales, account management, audit, and product development.
Dr. Butler supports several community organizations including the BESt Pharmacy Summer Institute, BreakDownSTL, Focus St. Louis, and The University of Missouri Kansas City. In addition he serves as a board member and Youth Minister at the Ark of Safety Christian Church.
Dr. Butler has completed 3 degrees: a Doctorate of Pharmacy, Masters in Business Administration and Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. His professional and civic contributions have led to several awards and recognitions.
Dr. Butler enjoys exercising and spending time with his wife and children. Guided by faith, the foundation for his life is summarized by Proverbs 3:5&6. “In all our ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths.”
