Alumni, parents and health care professionals are invited to join us for a thought-provoking evening featuring members of the College’s distinguished faculty who will share their knowledge and research in intriguing, 12-minute presentations, comprehensible for all audience members. Following the presentations, enjoy refreshments with the faculty presenters and President John A. Pieper, Pharm.D., FCCP, FAPhA.

Topics will include:

"Research Efforts to Optimize Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy," presented by Ryan Moenster, B.S. '04, Pharm.D. '05, FIDSA, BCPS (AQ ID), assistant professor of pharmacy practice and clinical pharmacy specialist at VA St. Louis Health Care System. Moenster will review his research on optimizing the therapy patients are discharged on by utilizing the narrowest spectrum of therapy possible and selecting the safest agents available to prevent re-admissions and keep the patients at home.

"The Opioid Crisis and Pharmacists," presented by Amy Tiemeier, B.S. '01, Pharm.D. '02, BPS, director of community partnerships and associate professor of pharmacy practice. Tiemeier will cover the ways pharmacists, legislation, medication disposal programs, prescription drug monitoring programs and naloxone access address the opioid crisis.

"Medication Saving Behaviors: Women Managing Medications for Older Family Members Identify a Hoarding-Related Risk Factor," presented by Melanie Van Dyke, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychology. Van Dyke will discuss her research on the interrelationships between medication saving behaviors, caregiver medication hassles, medication adherence and hoarding.
