Mary Louise Degenhart serves as special assistant to the president, where her focus will be career placement for St. Louis College of Pharmacy graduates, including jobs and residencies, and creating and developing residency opportunities. As a religious sister with the Adorers of the Blood of Christ (ASC), Degenhart holds an undergraduate degree in pharmacy from STLCOP, and earned her M.B.A. at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She is nationally recognized for her work creating pharmacy residency programs and developing training and continuing education programs for pharmacy technicians.

Prior to coming to STLCOP, Degenhart served as executive director of ASC Health in St. Louis and as a contract surveyor in the Accreditation Services Division with the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). In 1996, she was honored as an ASHP Fellow and in 2002, she was named an honorary ASHP member during the Society’s 37th Annual Midyear Clinical Meeting. Degenhart is a co-founder of the Southern Illinois Society of Hospital Pharmacists and the Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists. An active STLCOP alumna, she was presented with the Alumni Association’s Outstanding Achievement award in 1996 and the Loyalty award in 2010. Degenhart has served on both the alumni Board of Directors and STLCOP’s Board of Trustees.
